Information on the Displays Sikh Exhibition 2005

Apart from the permanent displays at Guru Nanak Sikh Museum, depicting the insight of Sikh History through paintings and Models of five Takhats (Seats of Authority) and the Golden Temple, the visitors would have the privilege to view the following displays:

1) Displays on History:- Photographs of historical events past and present including those related with Sikh rule.

2) Sikh Manuscripts: Unique and rare Sikh manuscripts including Hukamnamas (Letters from the Sikh Gurus to the Sikhs).

3) Traditional Panjabi & Sikh Costumes:- Practical experience of wearing the traditional Panjabi & Sikh costumes including the turban tying for enjoyment.

4) Displays on Gurbani Sangeet (Sikh Music):- An opportunity for the visitors to see and enjoy playing a few traditional musical instruments used by the Sikh community.

5) Panjabi Kitchen: - A chance to see and know the basic Panjabi foods, pulses, vegetables, fruit including knowing some food recipes and a wonderful experience by the participants to make chapattis.

6) Displays on Traditional Village Life in Panjab:- Displays of village life, fields, farming and harvesting, illustrated with working models and slide shows

7) Sikh Weapons: Traditional Sikh weapons those were used in Sikh wars against tyranny.
