Sri Guru Ram Das Ji (1534 – 1581)

Guru Ram Das Ji was the fourth Guru of the Sikhs. He purchased and developed some land and established a new city called Ramdaspur these days known as Amritsar. He laid down the Sikh Code of Conduct and worship. He composed "Lavan" special hymns for Sikh marriage ceremony and other hymns appropriate for certain functions and festivals. Being talented in music he composed hymns in 11 new ragas.
