To establish the Khalsa Brotherhood, Guru Gobind Rai (Singh) Ji sent a special message to Sikhs to reach at Anandpur on the Vaisakhi Day of 1699. Among the congregation, he chose 'Five Beloved Ones' through demanding for five heads. Then he baptised the ' Five Beloved Ones' and he was also baptised by them and named himself 'Gobind Singh'. Since that day, it is compulsory for every Sikh to be baptised and wear Five K's (Kesh, Kangha, Kirpan, Karha and Kachhehra). Every baptised Sikh male will have the second name 'Singh' and female 'Kaur.'
